The food chain revisited

Monkey see, monkey outdo.
Are we collectively unconscious? Just when you think you're at the top of the food chain, along comes a chimp to humble us all. Old news, yet timeless.

Bird brains
Birds can solve problems. Some species understand principles of leverage and optimizing environmental conditions to create tools. Once again, we have to accept another paradigm shifter.

Last but not least, the insect world demonstrates a remarkable concept of value in the collective, where the individual ant is a mere mechanism with a purpose made meaningful only in relation to its contribution to antdom. Maybe there are some parallels between the ants and the timeless quandary of the human condition. Perhaps its our contribution to the collective consciousness that makes our existence meaningful.

Sometimes, size doesn't matter
I guess one of the things we can take away from all of this is that you just can't ever assume that our present knowledge adequately summarizes existence.
